Getting home after the last set

Barcelona's metro has unusual hours, and they are the single most important thing to understand about this festival. From TMB's own timetable: Monday to Thursday it runs 05:00 to midnight. Friday it runs until 02:00. On Saturday it does not stop at all — service starts at 05:00 on Saturday morning and runs continuously through the night until midnight on Sunday.

Primavera's main stages wind down around 2–3am, but the club stages run far later. In 2026 the latest sets finished at 08:00 on both Thursday and Friday, and 07:45 on Saturday.

Put those together and Thursday 3 June 2027 is the night to plan for: the metro is gone at midnight and the site is open for another six to eight hours. There is one further trap — TMB's published closing times are when the last train leaves the terminus, not when it reaches your station. El Maresme | Fòrum is near the La Pau end of L4, so the practical last useful departure towards the city is at or slightly before midnight, not after it.

This is the most under-reported fact about Primavera logistics. During the festival, the Trambesòs T4 runs continuously — 24 hours a day, from the Fòrum to Ciutadella | Vila Olímpica. In 2026 that was over ninety uninterrupted hours; in 2024 it ran every twelve minutes on the Thursday and Friday nights and every twenty on Saturday.

That puts you at the edge of Vila Olímpica, Barceloneta and the Born at any hour of the night, on any night of the festival, from which most central accommodation is a short walk or a very short taxi hop. It solves the Thursday problem almost completely, and virtually no guide mentions it.

One caveat worth stating plainly: the 24-hour extension has run in 2024, 2025 and 2026, but it is announced each spring rather than being permanent. Check it in May 2027 before you rely on it.

Primavera runs its own buses to the city centre, and the timings are the giveaway that they exist specifically to plug the metro gap: from midnight on Thursday, from 2am on Friday, from 3am on Saturday, running through to 5–7am. Non-stop to Plaça Catalunya, no intermediate stops.

Price has moved around. It has been reported as free in some years and €2–3 in others, sometimes with a seat reservable through the festival's app, and the destination has been given as both Plaça Catalunya and Plaça Urquinaona. We are not going to print a 2027 price we can't stand behind — check the official transport page in May 2027. What has been consistent every year is the timing, tied to metro closure.

Lines N6 and N7 serve the Fòrum from 23:00 to 06:00, every night. N7 is the useful one — it runs direct from the venue through Plaça Catalunya and on to Pedralbes. N28 also covers the Fòrum–Diagonal Mar area.

The network's design principle is worth knowing: every Nitbus line except N0 stops at Plaça Catalunya. So the pattern is always the same — take whatever N-line is at the venue to Catalunya, then change to a second one for your neighbourhood. Buses run every fifteen to twenty minutes. It is slower than the metro and it requires an interchange, but it covers the entire window the festival is open.

Seventy thousand people leave at once, onto roads that are actively traffic-managed during the exodus. The official ranks are in front of the CCIB Convention Centre and in front of the Hilton — walk to one of those rather than standing at the roadside hoping.

Of the apps, Free Now is the best bet because it dispatches licensed taxis on the metered fare and therefore cannot surge. Cabify has the most reliable private-hire coverage across the metro area but prices dynamically; Uber and Bolt both run thinner fleets here and surge hard. Catalonia's restrictions on private-hire licences have kept that fleet small, which is exactly why prices spike at 4am.

One thing to know: a driver trying to charge a flat "fixed fee" instead of running the meter is acting illegally. Insist on the meter.

It is worth saying plainly, because it is the only option immune to every timetable above. Diagonal Mar is a ten to fifteen minute walk from the gates. Poblenou is twenty-five to thirty-five, flat, along the coast, with crowds heading the same way all night.

If you are choosing accommodation and you plan to stay late on Thursday, that is the whole argument for paying the Diagonal Mar premium. You are not buying a nicer room — the area is a business district with no character at all. You are buying the ability to stop thinking about any of this.
